This trekking is one of the most popular treks for 6 days and blended with 2 days culture tour. It is fairly easy with good distance. You will experience through amazing natural landscape of blue pine forests, rhododendrons at ranging high between altitudes 2400-4200 meter and also you have opportunity to visit old monasteries and meet with local villages.
The brief itinerary:
Day 1: Arive at Paro via Bhuan Air
Hike to famous Paro Taktshang. You have to hike for an 3 to 4 hours including to and fro till road. It all depends on your walk experience. After climbing Paro Taktshang you will never regret seeing the magnificent Temple built on cliff and its surrounding with nature beauty.
This will prepare you for next trek for Druk Path Trek.
Nigh Halt at Paro
Day 2: Paro – Jili Dzong (Your Druk Path Tour starts from day 2)
1st day trek is about 7 km, 4-5 hours, 1,090 meters
You will visit Ta Dzong (National Museum) in Paro.
You will climbs through beautiful landscape up until you reach camp below Jili Dzong.
Day 3: Jili Dzong – Jangchulakha
The day is about 10 km, 4-5 hours, 310 meters
Climb slop and ascent through thick alpine forests and dwarf rhododendron tress.
And camp around harder’s camp.
Day 4: Jangchulakha – Jimgelang Tsho
Walk about 11 km, 4 hours some decent and ascent.
The trail follows a ridge and on a clear day the view of the mountains and valley are simply stunning.
You will visit and campsite is close to the Jimgelang Tsho Lake. This lake is known for its giant sized trout.
Day 5: Jimgelang Tsho – Simkotra Tsho
Walk about 11 km, 4 hours
The trail takes you through dwarf rhododendron trees and past Janetso Lake.
You may come across some yak herder camps where you will have the opportunity to get a glimpse of a nomad’s life. And campsite is close to Simkotra Tsho Lake.
Day 6: Simkotra Tsho – Phajoding
Journey about 10 km, 3-4 hours
If clear day, you will view of Mount Gangkar Puensum, the highest mountain in Bhutan and several other Himalayan peaks.
You will have great far view of the city of Thimphu. And Your campsite at Phajoding Monastery.
Day 7: Phajoding – Motithang
6th day of trek is about 4-5 km, 3 hours descent. After passing Phadjoding monastery, the trek to Thimphu (Mothitang) is downhill through a forested area of mostly blue pine. The walk, at a leisurely pace, takes about three hours.
If clear day, will have beautiful view of the city of Thimphu.
Druk Path finishes at the Sangay Gang, near Bhutan Broadcast Service (BBS) Telecommunication Tower.
Night halt at Thimphu hotel
Day 8: Thimphu-Paro
Thimphu Sightseeing and visit Stupa, Biggest Buddha Statue, Market places, Local art and handicraft shop, Bhutan national animal in zoo, handicraft school and many more. You will also experience local food, drinks and snacks from best restaurant and hotels.
Drive at Paro and Night Halt at Paro.
